Time To End The Debate: Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks Coffee

I don’t know what has happened over the past month or so, but at least three times I’ve been hit with the ”You still drink Dunkin? Starbucks is so much better.” I know Starbucks has been around for a while and has always been decently popular, but as of late it’s starting to seem like they’re really pulling away in the coffee game. I am biased towards Dunkin because of the impact it had on my childhood. We’d swing in, my father would grab a coffee and id leave with a fresh Boston creme donut to eat. Some real, fond memories. So naturally, as I grew older and became a coffee drinker, I stayed brand loyal and continued to go to Dunkin Donuts. Especially now that West Islip has a drive-thru Dunkin smack in the middle of town, it’s a no-brainer where I’m going to get my coffee.

I will admit, I have been to Starbucks a handful of times and have tried a variety of both the hot and cold beverages, but have never been impressed. I blame this partially on myself, though. I have no clue what to order in that place. When I go to Starbucks I feel out of place from the moment I open the door.Everyone’s either reading their Kindle or schmoozing over the latest political scandal while laughing like movie villians. It also doesn’t help that there are nearly 1 billion options on their drink menu. But I will not let the environment nor the menu complexity alter my grading of their coffee/food. But until I have figured out my Starbucks order and have had an authentic Starbucks experience, I’d like to hear from you guys. Which coffee chain do you prefer? Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks?
