Good Riddance Matt Harvey

Who would have thought 3 years ago that Matt Harvey would be worth a trade for Devin Mesoraco? What a complete and utter BUST “The Dark Knight” was. Don’t be one of those Mets fans to come at me with “I really liked Matt Harvey, he had a lot of great starts for us.” I OWE MATT HARVEY NOTHING. For the hype that man got, give me a break. Was suppose to be a franchise guy; someone that was suppose to be our ACE for a while. This guy always had a puss on his face, like he didn’t want to be here. If he finishes off that 2015, World Series, game 5, then id be forever indebted. But guess what, he blew it. You’re going to be a hot shot and tell Terry Collins you’re not coming out, then BLOW IT? It was pretty much all downhill from there. Next thing you know the paparazzi are snapping pictures of him prancing around New York City with his girlfriends and the rest is history.

This guy really had us going. Everyone wearing Batman masks to Citi Field. What an absolute sham. Have fun playing for the worst team in baseball, in one of the blandest cities in the United States, Cincinnati. As for the good news, the Mets seemed to acquire a halfway decent catcher in Mesoraco. That’s all we really needed. I guess we could also use another pitcher to replace Jason Vargas, since he can’t seem to pitch an inning without giving up a run. Can’t wait to get the text alert that Jose Lobaton is off the team. That guy is just brutal to watch. Overall, it’s a good trade and a good day to be a Mets fan.

Spikeball On ESPN Should Not Be A Thing

2018 has been a rough year so far. The world lost lost Avicii and Mini Me, it’s tough for things to get worse. But ESPN has found a way, by airing the backyard game “Spikeball” to their list of sports they televise. Never did I think id see ”athletes” on ESPN that I am more athletic than. I watched this for 15 minutes and these people weren’t even good at Spikeball. At least if you’re going to air this make sure the participants are going to do some crazy maneuvers . Next thing you know the Sportscenter top 10 plays are going to be Kan Jam throws, and beer pong shots. The worst part was the broadcasters they rolled out for this. These two jabronis below were cringe-worthy to listen to.They tried to play this guy on the right off as some retired, 5-time champion Spikeball player. He sounded like the guy who shows up to the backyard barbecue and starts arguing the rules with your 12-year-old cousin. I am officially boycotting ESPN until they get this bologna off their channel. A real slap in the face to the world of professional sports.

Knicks Hire Fitzdale

Of all my teams, it may be the toughest being a Knicks fan right now. The Knicks have really hit the dark ages, with the eventual return an injured Kristaps Porzingis being our only light of hope. As usual, I blame James Dolan. The man will pay to have a 5 part Broadway performance take place during Knicks home games, but won’t pursue any big stars. The Knicks are a team, due to their worth, who aren’t going to stay bad for long though. I think they are putting a lot of pieces in place to start a rebuild over the next few seasons. For an organization whose gotten A LOT wrong over the past couple of years, I think hiring Dave Fitzadale was definitely a step in the right direction.

After a successful run as an assistant coach to the Miami Heats ”Big Three”, with whom he won two championships, he was hired as head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies. Fitzdale had a decent run in his first season in Memphis as the team reached the Western Conference playoffs, but was fired in his second season after the team got off to a shaky start and Marc Gasol was benched. I’m not surprised benching Marc Gasol is a fire-able offense in Memphis. They really love that dude. Now, Fitzdale is our guy. I don’t know a ton about basketball, but I’m going to say that we’re going to need to give this guy some players if we want him to succeed. In professional sports, especially basketball, no matter how good your coach is, it’s all about the guys playing at the end of the day. I’m really hoping we see the Knicks get in the mix for Kawhi Leonard, cause you know the draft lottery is not going to go our way. Well have to see what happens. Let’s go Knickerbockers.

Good News On DeGrom , Mets Back To Being The Same Old Mets(R Rated Blog)

Thank GOD DeGroms MRI came back negative. I’ve reached the edge with this franchise. I don’t know what I can do anymore. 2 weeks ago every Mets beat-writer in New York City was talking about how the “5-Aces” were making their first complete rotation ever. That literally lasted until that rotation was over. Harvey should have been traded two years ago, Matz is as soft as they come, I don’t even think Zack Wheeler knows where he is half the time. I knew that schtick wouldn’t last. Listen to me, there are two players on the Mets roster that I TRUST. TWO PLAYERS. Noah Syndergaard and Jacob DeGrom. They are literally the only players on the team I 100% trust. Nope, not Cespedes, not Lugo, not Frazier, not Gsellman, not Bruce; because all of those guys are absolutely NAUSEATING to watch when they underperform. The remainder of this Mets season pretty much rested on how severe of an injury that was for DeGrom, but it looks like hell be fine.

We’re the Mets exciting to watch at the beginning of the year, of course they were, it was awesome. They obviously weren’t going to sustain that level of success throughout the season, but if you can just continue to play at an average, win a couple in a row with a couple scattered loses pace, you can make your way into the playoffs. But now, sitting at 17-11, losing 7 of their last 10, here comes the implosion. The last couple of games Cespedes and Bruce are the only ones who want to hit the ball, but when the rest of the team is batting well, those guys can’t hit water if they fall off a boat. As a Mets fan, I do not ask for much. Keep the players healthy, let them play to their full potential and maybe, just maybe we can make a wild card game. I’ll live with that! Nope. Always something with these morons. Braves about to secure the sweep as Jason Vargas is throwing batting practice in his last two starts. Get that guy off my team. He absolutely stinks out loud. Braves in first place. This is torture.

Drake Should Apologize To Kendrick Perkins Immediatley

I don’t know the full details of the incident, but seeing Drake and Kendrick Perkins in what seemed to be a heated argument last night, was just what this Raptors/Cavaliers series needed. I love, especially in the NBA, when there’s a little bad blood involved in a playoff series. It obviously makes things a whole lot more entertaining and the games get a hell of a whole lot more physical. With that said; Drake, listen buddy and listen closely. It is not in your best interest, nor is it a smart career decision to try and fight Kendrick Perkins. This is not a matter of right and wrong, but more of a matter of life and death. That man will take you on a one way trip to suplex city. Even if you did nothing wrong, it would really just be the smart move to say you’re sorry and move on. Let’s take a look at the tale of the tape.

Drake: Height: 6’0

Weight: 180 lbs

Nationality: Canadian

Kendrick Perkins: Height: 6’10

Weight: 269 lbs

Nationality: American

Looking at these numbers I’m going to stick to my prediction that Kendrick Perkins would eat Drake alive. I don’t know if it’s the one foot height advantage, the 100 pound weight advantage, or the fact that Drake is a pop singer from Canada and Kendrick Perkins has been an NBA big man for 13 years. Well see how this plays out at game 2 on Thursday.

The Las Vegas Golden Knights: Team Of The Year

Last night, the Las Vegas Golden Knights took a 2-1 series lead over the San Jose Sharks in a game that went to overtime. Now, the series heads back to Las Vegas for game 4; where the Knights have been lights out all year. After sweeping the Los Angeles Kings in 4 games and now leading this series, it appears the Knights are a serious contender in these NHL playoffs. Marc-Andre Fleury has revamped his career as he has stood on his head all season. Guys like James Neal, Reilly Smith, William Karlsson, Jonathan Marchessault and Erik Haula have been relentless in offensive end. The Las Vegas Knights are one of the great stories in sports this year and have a case for being team of the year. If these guys win the cup I may be willing to call them one of the best teams ever.

If you really think about the creation of this team, its kind of unbelievable. Most of these players were 2nd, 3rd and even 4th line guys, whose franchise didn’t protect them from being taken by the Knights. What a slap in the face. I love the fact that this team is doing great. The players are showing their former teams not only what they can do with more time on the ice, but what a mistake the team made by letting them go. This could be a movie script. A group of hockey players not protected by their teams come together as one team and beat everybody. Im all in on the Las Vegas Golden Knights to win the cup. Would absolutely love to see it.

Who Is The NBA Rookie Of The Year? Simmons or Mitchell?

Philadelphia 76ers’, Ben Simmons and Utah Jazz’, Donovan Mitchell both had monster seasons this year. Both players did more than enough to help their teams reach the playoffs this season and now both the Jazz and the 76ers, have advanced to the 2nd round. But which of these two is more deserving of the Rookie Of The Year Award? When taking a look at the numbers both these guys put up this year, it’s a tough call. Below, we can take a look at a statistical comparison between the two guards. What is not seen on this chart are the highlight plays and points scored during important moments of games for both players. Simmons threw down some electrifying dunks this year; as I felt like I saw him on SC Top 10 every night. While Mitchell scored at will and hit clutch shot after clutch shot, showing the NBA he is their next big star. You can look at these stats and see one of two things. One, that Donovan Mitchell is a more prolific scorer. Averaging about 5 more points a game this season than Simmons and having 337 more points scored than Simmons; while playing in 2 less games. Or you can look at these stats and say that Ben Simmons is a more complete player than Mitchell; as he tops Mitchell in every non-scoring category in both averages and season totals. This may be one of the toughest Rookie Of The Year decisions ever. If I had a vote, I think I’m going with Donovan Mitchell. Although it’s a tough argument to make, I personally believe that Mitchell is more important to the Jazz than Simmons is to the 76ers. Mitchell is the absolute future of the Utah Jazz franchise and could become one of the franchises best ever. While I feel like Embiid is the guy everyone is counting on in Philly. I have great respect for both players and really can understand an argument for either guy. Let me know who you guys believe will win it!

Rodrigo Koxa Breaks Record For Biggest Wave Ever Surfed

38-year old, Brazilian surfer, Rodrigo Koxa was officially credited with the world record for ”Biggest Wave Ever Surfed”, at the World Surf League’s Big Wave Awards on Saturday night. In November of 2017, Koxa successfully rode and 80-foot wave during a session in Nazare, Portugal. I really don’t know where these kind of people come from. An 80-foot wave? Is this guy serious? The picture below is Rodrigo riding that record breaking wave…(VIDEO)

This guy has to have some kind of death wish. The amount of confidence one must have in themselves to size up that wave and then start paddling to catch it is beyond me. If there are 5-foot waves at Robert Moses field 5 i’m shook. The sound of an 80-foot wave crashing behind you must sound like bombs being dropped on your head. How fast was this guy moving? Had he fallen, how dead would he have been? I’m going with: very dead. I was shocked when I saw the size of the trophy they gave this dude at the awards show. Thats all you get for an 80-FOOT WAVE? They should of just gave Rodrigo the rights to the ocean. A trident engraved with “You are now king of the sea, congrats.” The scary thing is, someone will try to top this. It definitely will not be me.

Jimbo’s Top 10: Red Hot Chili Peppers Songs

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are hands down one of, if not my favorite band of all time. I started listening to them probably around the beginning of middle school and still, to this day, love their music. This list was incredibly difficult to make because honestly, any one of these hits could be my favorite song by them. No matter what kind of day I’m having, I know I can throw on a specific RHCP song to fit my mood. Im going to keep this brief and not go into detail about each song, because I’m no music expert; but id like you to respond with your own RHCP top 10. Without further ado, here are my top 10 songs by the great Red Hot Chili Peppers.

10) Snow (Hey Oh) Stadium ArcadiumThe 2006 album, Stadium Arcadium is one of the RHCP’s best. “Snow (Hey Oh)” held the number 1 spot on the Billboard Modern Rock Chart for five straight weeks. The guitar solo at the beginning is one of my favorites. Would not be surprised if many of you have this higher than 10.

9) Dani California Stadium ArcadiumAnother hit off of the legendary “Stadium Arcadium” album. This song made it all the way up to 6 on the Billboard Top 100 and was the second song ever to debut at number 1 on the Billboard Modern Rock Chart. Obviously a fantastic song, but it never did as much for me as I feel like it did for some people. I know there are people out there who have this in their top 3.

8) Give It Away Blood Sugar Sex Magik

The first time I heard this song I was watching the MTV music video channel, (188 on cable) that was just 24/7 music videos. I hate using this word, but this song is badass; I immediately loved it. Pretty sure the music video gave me nightmares. The “Blood Sugar Sex Magik” was released in 1991, so this is prime-time RHCP. You know, when they were all on drugs. (Jimbo’s World does not condone drug use)

7) The Zephyr Song By The WayThis list has really opened my eyes to how great the RHCP are at making sweet music videos. Very rarely will you find a band that has a good music video for EVERY song. One of their slower hits, “The Zephyr Song” didn’t really grow on me until I got older. I don’t know why but I use to hate this song. Now, I love it. I almost threw it in my top 5 but I couldn’t do it. My first song on this list from the “By The Way” album, which was, again, legendary.

6) Cant Stop By The WayThis was so hard for me not to include in my top 5. I went back and forth over and over while creating this list and this was the one song that threw me off the most. Even though it is number 6 on my list, the guitar solo at the beginning of “Cant Stop” is my favorite song intro ever. UFC fighter, TJ Dillashaw, used this as his entrance song when he knocked out Cody Garbrandt. A song I will never get sick of.

5) Scar Tissue Californication“Scar Tissue” is this ultimate chill out/smooth song. Another song that reached the Billboard Top 100 at number 9. I have to admit, I think the “Californication” album is the best, as it takes up three of my top 5 spots.

4) Otherside CalifornicationAs we continue to roll through the top 5 we just start hitting the classics. Id say this song is in everybody’s top 10, if not everybody’s top 5. Another really interesting music video as well. The “Californication” album was released in 1999, after the band had regrouped from a skid of drug addiction. This was the RHCP first serious album together in 6 years and they absolutely killed it.

3) By The Way By The WayThis honestly might be the first song I ever heard by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I have zero clue what the songs about and don’t know the meaning of half the words, but the chorus and bass playing in this song gets me so fired up. Definitely on my bucket list to see the band perform this live in concert. I’d go ballistic.

2) Under The Bridge Blood Sugar Sex MagikSo this song pretty much sums up all the “shit” I have been referring to over the course of this blog. Lead singer Anthony Kiedis sings about the loneliness he felt both during and after his addiction to heroine and other drugs. This songs lyrics and message are pretty much universally known. “Under The Bridge” is a toss up for my favorite RHCP song of all time, but for the sake of lists, it falls to number 2.

1) Califonication CalifornicationHere it is, “Californication”, my favorite Red Hot Chili Pepper song of all time. Every aspect of this song makes it great. The lyrics, the guitar and bass play and of course, the music video. This song has remained the RHCP’s most popular song; as it has appeared in every setlist since its debut. Whenever I think “Red Hot Chili Peppers”, I think of this song.

New York Jets Draft Sam Darnold: My Thoughts

So yesterday, in my “New York Jets Draft Day” blog, I had Sam Darnold under my “Do Not Want” category. As I stated, I don’t believe theres anything wrong with Darnold’s skill or ability to play in the NFL, my opinion was based around the fact that he’d be moving from a Southern California environment, to New York City. Not every athlete can handle the New York pressure, and if there was a QB in this draft who I questioned most (in terms of handling the New York spotlight), it was Darnold. But guess what, ALL ABOARD, NEXT STOP, SUPERBOWL. Looking at it now. the Jets made the SMART/SAFE pick. Darnold could really be our guy. First off, he’s a big dude (6’4 220 LBS ) that could chuck the ball and move pretty decently, for his size. His character is unquestioned and throughout his college career he built a reputation for knowing how to win games. Being that he was the #1 ranked QB in this draft, I could not be happier the Jets were able to steal him at 3. (Excerpt from Jets Draft Day blog below)

What Darnold really needs to work on to succeed at the next level is his decision making. If he can learn to make smart passes and read coverages at the NFL level, “Sammy Diesel” (as I now like to call him) has all the intangibles to become the franchise quarterback Jets fans have been waiting decades for. All we can do now it sit back and wait for training camp. Will he start this year? Well have to see. Personally, I wouldn’t mind letting him sit a year to learn. But if he is everything that he has been hyped up to be and has a big preseason; I can see him under center for week 1, Monday Night Football. I just got the damn chills. #JETUP
