Review: David Blaine “Beyond Magic”

As a kid I was pretty intrigued with David Blaine. Always been a sucker for a good magic trick. I remember the first time my Dad tossed on “David Blaine: Street Magic”. I was shook to my core with some of the shit he was pulling off. Turning coffee into money, picking up dead New York City pigeons and bringing them back to life. If this guy said he was the second coming of Christ I would throw my name in the hat to be a disciple. This month he dropped a new special called “David Blaine: Beyond Magic”, whatever the fuck that means. Someone uploaded it to youtube so I tossed it on last night and I was not dissapointed…. 45 minutes of pure electricity. This guy hasn’t skipped a beat, i’ll be honest, I dont think he’s aged at all. Potentially aging backwards now that I think about it. The show features cameos from some big time celebs. Margot Robbie, John Travolta, Emma Stone, and David Beckham all have Blaine performing in the comfort of their own homes, so you know DB was gonna put on a laser show.

The special starts out with Blaine swallowing the wedding rings of the aforementioned celebrities and fishing them out of his throat with a coat hanger. I’m  more of a card trick kind of guy, but those are the stunts that get you into Margot Robbie’s house in the first place.Blaine chews on some glass,brings frogs up out of his stomach and catches a bullet in a cup placed in his mouth (again). Let me tell you something, this guy is a national treasure. Each time he releases a special he really cranks it up a notch. What kind of tricks is he going to be doing in 15 years? That reaction from Deion Sanders tells me all I need to know, Blaine is for real, cause primetime dont play no shit. “Beyond Magic” gets a 3.5 out of 5, go check it out.
